Essays below

What you see below are our essays - Day in MC from each of MC memebrs :))

We wrote it two months ago, but Natka kinda forgot to post it :) So it is being posted only now when we created our blog. ENJOY :)))

IgorOk's Day..

IGOR RYABCHUK
Dear reader,

If I start telling you my ordinary working day, it wouldn't sound really fun. But as they say: "life's measured not by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments which take your breath away". So, imagine yourself a day, which includes as much of those moment as
possible. I'll try to describe a fictional day, which includes a little more activities in it then usual, thus you'll get an impression of what means to be a regional director.

... you're on a warm sunny beach, hiding in shades of palms and; half-naked tanned beautiful girls surround you and call you to join them in ... questionable activities; you stand up from your hammock and right before you approach this small heaven... BEEP-BEEP-BEEP BEEP
BEEEP!!!!.... Damn I hate this alarm in my mobile phone!! Gotta get up,
too much to do to watch this dream till the end.

OK, what's first... While my laptop is downloading this huge pack of email that appeared during the night (who writes those so late???), get to the toilet, then bathroom, then kitchen to have a quick breakfast, then back to laptop. Qestions question questions on email - reply,
forward, ask for more info... nothing special about that, except for several trully pleasant warm wishes you get once in a while for helping someone solve a problem or two - 2 minutes of your attention and at least half an hour of great mood in return!

Now, pack the laptop, get a few materials and go to a meeting with your home LC. "Hey guys! What's up? Problems? Don't think so - you're good enough to face it easilly, but if you really need my help, that's what I would have done...". Discussions, arguing, deciding... sometimes it's
good, sometimes it's hard. But there are moments when one of them would approach you and just thank you, for help, for advices, for support...
and you feel happy - not because of this, but because of the fact that you can see the results of your work, you realize that it's not about being a smart-ass, it's all about helping others to be successfull. And it makes you feel proud of them and proud of yourself...

Next, get to the car and drive to another LC. Sure, it's great to have a car and to have an LC that's only 1.5 hour drive. It's only 2pm and I'm already in another city... "so great to see you again, guys. How's it going?". Similar talks, similar discussions, similar problems and
achievemnts. But other city and other people. And not a single of them is similar to each other. All different, but each so open, interesting and great.

Move on, next city... this time it's an initative group. New faces, new opportunities and new discoveries! I remember how intensively you started - you've been on several conferences, you lit up like crazy :)
and now you got what you wanted - an initiative group! It's great to have friends all around, who were able to help in your development. Without their help, I wouldn't have managed to get such a result. Now I know that I can count on those people at any time, and they can count on me. A reliable person is not something that is easy to find. I did. And it worth a lot!
The presentation is about to start in 15 minutes... Impressive preparation - the hall is great, the amount of people is just incredible - how did you do that, guys? Teach me! I could never acieve such a result! What a great list of companies you managed to invite! Great work! It seems to me that I'll have a good reason to be boasting of you later this week during MC days - when I'll be at my 2nd home, with my 2nd family - or in other words - my dream team!..

Nadiykin Day in MC :)

MC life is so diverse that it is difficult to think of a “usual” MC VP Day. Every day is a new one. But lets see what typical day is about – if I am not in other Ukrainian city or whereever else.

I wake up. Never wake up to early, always after Natka, but usually before Max wakes up. So before I start doing anything – I make myself a BIG cup of coffee. No coffee – no day. Breathing in the freshness of the Poznyaky morning, looking at the beautiful sight outside of the twelve floor…That’s how the day starts :)

I check my mail. Suprizingly AIESEC guys work even during the night, so lots of mails as usually. You have to know what’s going on in organization, so I look through spams, see if anything is worth spending time reading it. Some opportunities will be usefull for @ Ukraine, so I forward those to PD dudes. Some new AI releases and guides – all cute and pretty, clear
and smart – go to VP PDs emails.

During the day I receive lots of emails that need urgent reply – sometimes online consulting, sometimes crisis management…. I love you people, I do!... :) and Yes, my MSN, ICQ, Email and office phone are open for everyone, 24/7 :)

As VP PD in AI said ones: “What do PD people like to do most?”. Talk about people, create guides, develop statistics and draw pretty diagrams. Yes, that’s us J So, I think about new Guide for LC guys, that will help them to perform better, to understand things better. It takes time to evaluate all information available, my own experience, best case practises into something LCs could use, but that is so much pleasure: )

And…. Top news last month -> “New Horizons”: agenda cut 20 times a day, faci talks and explanations, online chats, creating of forms, materials and outlines…
And sometimes we go outside for a meeting with a new cool guy, from a cool company who loves @ and wants to cooperate, so we get out with a cool partnership, or at least lots of motivation.

When you get tired: AIESEC dance is on and motivation goes up and up again! We never stop!.. well… if aiesec.net works :)

If not… “Guys, who’s going for beer?”..just kidding, we find stuff to do. We have working atmosphere, air of creativity all around!... So sometimes it makes me stay awake till 4 am… or evening ends up somewhere with some friends, just to make sure they still know I am alive and not diappeared in MC life ;) yes! I am still alive… but when I think of what’s not done
still … my soul wants to come back toMC office and work, create more charts, more guides, more pretty & usefull stuff !!!

that’s what we are… PD freaks :)

Kiyashko... MC Day.

USUAL WORKING DAYS(s)

Ukraine
November Fall Day
9:45
Alarm clock on my mobile making me open my eyes. I like Nokia but hate the alarm clock as I think everybody does in the
mornings. 15 min is more than enough for me to do pre-working stuff – i.e. going to the bathroom. After doing all the
necessary things there I move to the kitchen and make myself a cup of green tea. As usually it is cold autumn weather
behind the window and thick fog in which I can hardly see a neighbouring building. With a cup in my hand I go to central
office room where all the global and strategic thoughts are finding their way to be implemented. Almost all…J
So near 10 a.m. my working day starts with turning on my PC or just monitor if I left something to be downloaded from the
web. Unlimited and fast internet is a cool thing. J
Oh, one missing thing, forgot to take on my clothes.J So while I’m doing that, PC is finishing startup and see all the
icons on my desktop.
10:10
I’m already settled on my working place in the far corner of our office room. To the right on the wall there’s a Polish
flag. I didn’t think about this earlier but, I think, it symbolizes our strong cooperation in exchange area with Poland,
especially when on the opposite wall I see a Turkish flag. No quality issues to be discussed now. Please…
Checking the e-mails is the first thing I usually do at the beginning of my working day. For me it’s very interesting to
know what and happened during the night time in huge AIESEC world while I’ve been watching some cool or almost cool
nightmares. J
Usually out of 50 new messages – 20 unnecessary and useless spams. It takes you only to look at the subject to push
‘Delete’ button and half of them are coming from the best performing AIESEC country. Guess which…J
I’m looking through other 20 to be aware what’s happening in the world. So only 10 left, half of them are personal
connected and almost connected with my MC responsibilities and other 5 have links to interesting documents which you think
can be really useful for you personally and professionally. So definitely you need to have it on your own hard drive.
While answering to personal letters and writing ones that you need to those files are being downloaded. Later most of that
documents, which are not of urgent importance, are moved to “to sort” folder. Some time later they will be sorted and may
be read… Some time… I think it’s a disease definitely.J
While doing all that stuff and during whole day you’re keeping on discussing with your working colleagues and, definitely,
your friends already, who are working for the same goal but in different areas, different things – from “why LCs are always
doing things not in the way the should” and “where should we get more money” to “how the things would have changed in my
life if I hadn’t taken this opportunity, i.e. applying for MC”.
Of course, it’s “mission impossible” to list now all the topics but I can assure you that those discussions are really
important in MC work in professional way and personally also. Thanks to them I’m learning and participate in other people’s
learning. At least one principle of @XP I’ve already mentioned.J
12:00 (or something close to it)
Second constant thing which I always do is linking to my favourite web-site. And I’m sure you know this web address.J
‘Manage forms’ in “Exchange Menu” is the most clickable by me as during the day I always check if at least one form since
the last day was matched or realized. And when this data appears on the screen, I’m ‘happy as elephant’ (I think, there’s
no such expression in English but it’s the way I feel, especially if it’s a Ukrainian TN form.J). All this info are moved
to special excel files so in 5 years people will know who went where in 2005.J But besides this I feel good when some LCVPs
are telling me that one more form is matched and I reply in 90% cases: “I know. Good job. Keep the tempo.”
Also almost a must is to check in XMI analyzer how is Russian Federation doing and ‘be on the 7th sky’ seeing that they
remain behind you by more than 50 exchanges. No politics, only statistics.J
Sometimes you get letter or e-mail about international facilitation opportunities or just international conferences you
can attend. And I’m happy that sometimes such things are happening with me like going abroad to be a faci or a delegate on
the international conference. For me, conferences are one of the main sources of motivation. New friends, new experience,
new contacts, new swear words that you learn from your foreign amigos. Such things really make a difference in your life
especially when drinking nights turn out into good friendship and long talks into realized exchanges. It’s always easier to
deal with people who you personally know.
Besides, I can assure you that all @ers are fetishists including me.J Having one more visa in your passport and one more
badge especially from the international conference… That’s fucking cool!!!
14:00 (or something close to it)
Time for lunch. Wow!!! J
Going to the fridge and looking what is there, trying to find something new which wasn’t on its shelves yesterday.
One thing I must tell you – to have a good cook in MC team is really COOL. And we do have. Soups and meals from simple
products seem really tasty and they are so. Besides after more than half a year of MC term I can consider myself a master
of salads. Also I’m good at peeling potatoes and washing dishes, but that’s completely another story…J
15:00 (or something close to it)
So back to work. Familiar screen and wallpaper on desktop.
It’s time to make my session for national conference. 240 people – wow! Need to be best and excellent in preparation and
later in delivery so people can really take something out of it.
Half an hour of searching in your ‘AIESEC folder’, another - on communities and also gathering thoughts from bright heads
of another MC members.
You can consider yourself very efficient if you will manage to do it in an hour. Usually it takes more. But when you’ve
done it you feel self-satisfied, really.J
While doing all that stuff from time to time you’re talking with @ers on ICQ and MSN mostly giving advices or solving some
problems which have a really bad habit to appear daily in different part of Ukraine.
To limit your communication with everybody willing to do that with you, you usually have ‘invisible’ status in ICQ and set
yourself ‘busy’ in MSN.
Besides it’s time to make new newsletter, data collection usually takes few hours. To make it look a nice one takes one
hour or more. Huge thanks to Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for an easy converting into .pdf. Statistics is a nice thing, positive one
is even better.
Also in the middle of the day you remember after looking at your tasks till next MC Team Days that it’s time to revise
strategies and goals for this year as it runs to its end. Strategic thinking is a nice thing you gain in MC but even better
if you can turn them into action.
Going from strategies and though into action you remember that you need to call to LCPs to find out if they do spring
PBOXes. If they don’t, then ask why and listen to things not really connected with topic. But I completely understand them
as 2 years was at the same place and know what the main reasons are. But it’s your job to annoy people sometimes.J
19:00
Your official working hours are over and you can watch some TV programs, of course if you have TV set. We do now. J So
some Russian serials about some pretty nannies and “not pretty” assistants of directors...
Some dinner and cooking which takes lots of time… Some beer after going to the shop in neighbourhood…
Now you have the time to chat in MSN and ICQ with anyone you want.
You can start searching your favourite mp3 music in internet, watch some video or play PC game.
Also you go to meet with your old friend who’s also working in Kyiv now or who accidentally came and will be happy to
drink beer with you this evening somewhere in the city centre. Or this friend(s) come to your flat (not office after
19:00J) and you relax a bit in…
Or you’re welcomed on some party in some far city district. In that case the main thing is to be back by 10:00 next day.
And also after 19:00 you continue your work as you act in different way. That’s coz you are committed to this cool
organization, no way coz of some close deadlines and the fact that your MCP will kick your ass… NO.J
23:00-00:00 (of something far or even further from it)
Going to sleep… Hopefully…
P.S. Besides that all we have a really picturesque landscapes right out of the window glass. And sometimes I’m really
lucky to catch the sun disappearing behind the buildings of this beautiful city. And when looking beyond the horizon you
think that you definitely don’t regret about single second of being on that leadership position.

day of MC life...Yurka

If you wake up with hang-over and the first thoughts which come to your mind are: “Where is me?”, “Who am I?”, don’t be frightened, you are a Regional Director...

Actually, there are a lot of places, where you can wake up! Most often – in the old kind slipping bag on the favorite upper berth of already practically home trains of UkrzaliznycyaJ, or in the next in turn unknown flat of a poor aiesecer’s family, who agreed to shelter you, or in a student hostel, or even in “your” Dnipropetrovsk’s three-room flat!!, or in MC-office, but obligatory every next time in another bad with another MC-member)), or at one of regional or national
conferences, which for some reasons stopped differing from your daily life, or rather it’s your daily life stopped differing from the conference’s one..))

There are two popular variants of mornings’ development:
1) You are met from a train and already on the way to somewhere (as a rule, it even doesn’t particularly matter where) curious aiesecers actively make inquires about all in the world))

2) If it’s not your first day in the city, you are waked up by a hospitable aiesecer, because of he/she needs to go to attend lectures, and you trudge to your first meeting with one of LCVPs, or just to the office, where though not on very comfortable chairs, but you can have a short nap))

And further, as lectures comes to the end, aiesecers start attack you))
For hours, practically without making pauses, you discuss with them how to make our rganization blooming and the best in the world! During these conversations you are trying to look smart and give wise advises))

In the evening you are also often invited to drink bear or even to specially organized party, or you just simply say Good buy to these kind and sweet people, sit to the next train, which will bring you on the morrow to the same kind and sweet people of another city, and everything will start from the beginning…

Oksa's Day

I don’t know exactly how can I describe my day-to-day work in 300 words? It’s my life and my emotion; it’s like burning
mixture of my passion and obligation. I try to explain all things, which is typical for my work as a brand manager of
AIESEC in Ukraine and for me, cause I will write it in Ukrainian.

Day in MC.....Max

Fill enough comfortable not to take any challenge?
Think you know enough?
Think you can enough?
Hm, probably you never worked as MC, man!
When you will be able to work 16 hours straight, when you will find out, how in 2 min find the contact info of some CEO,
in 12 hours cover the budget, in 7 days organize perfect project, when every time picking up the phone instead of “Hello”
you will say “AIESEC in Ukraine, good afternoon!”, when your favorite place in the city become the biggest business-centre
with thousand of different offices, when branding standards and promises you will know better then national anthem words,
when you will get, that even dinner can be raised, when you will know names and dates of birthdays of 50 people – managers
of different companies, but can easily forget about your girlfriend birthday, when your team around will become your
family, , when you will start negotiation procedure even with tram-conductor, when for you will be easier to write a
ten-pages business-offer, than a half-paper of composition like this – that will mean, that you really tried something!
Never the less, to be serious, work as MC VP ER is on of the most challenging jobs in AIESEC. Being like a face of
organization, you feel at the same time great respect and significant responsibility for people, which interest you do
represent. You will be learning a lot not only by gaining new experience, but the same time giving people knowledge, which
you have.
This is the most close step to business, to that “adult” world, where handshake means more that thousand of contracts,
where the real treasure are your friends and partners, where people are making their dreams come true.
So, don’t wait – make and your dream come true!
Apply for MC VP ER in Ukraine!
You will never regret, I promise…

Day of Natka on MC

MC day is always special, never repeating, welll, maybe breakfast :)

Ok, frankly speaking my working day starts at 9 a.m. +\-13 minutes :) and then I meet our MC members on the neighbour tables with computers.

Ok, morning starts, this is my favorite part of the day when you can create it as efficient as possible to combine possiblemeetings that you have, going to the bank which on the other part of the city and to work with email which is huge amount per day.

Yes, usually my work consist of constant communication mostly with LCPs, MCPs from other countries, AI members. In 2 days we will have an Mc days, it means it is like a mini conference with its agenda for 2 day and small party part :) (usually during the late evening like
celebration of new year :) or football game with Kiev :).

At the same time during the day there are several task for the month, week that I planned to do like MC election booklet, output booklet from the conference, maybe some applications.

Eveery day consist of 1 minute Insight XP review: how many SNs, TNs.
every day consist of at least 1 email at LCP voice

Every day consist of at least 1 email at kkd_100@yahoogorups.com - this is MC voice (koeficient korysnoyi diyi 100%)

And for sure every day consist of at least 1 great family lunch :)

And then the end of the day: creating the plan for today: and 3 main blocks are: "To do list", "To call list" and "To email list", so and then I can feel myself free :) and to watch the TV movie "Sex and city" :)

Just wanna share that it is work that I do love to do in every time of the day and very sometimes of the night, because first whatever I do is connected with people, secondly, there are 98% positive emotions and 2% of others and thirdly, to work in a such team and to live in a such
family - isn't it a dream life?

MC Life straight from MC office!

Hi there!
Yes, we finally founded our Blog :)
This is to share our experiences as an MC team and as individuals who are having incredible AIESEC eXPeriences!
